In January support for PS1 Fonts will end. Fonts seem to be so simple when everything works, but once you take a closer look the topic is extremely complex. Whenever I had a problem with it (mostly due to my own sloppiness when upgrading to a new computer) my support question was answered closer within minutes than hours. Sure, there is room for improvement - where isn't? - but what is worth so much more than one or the other "coolness" improvement is reliability and service. It might not look as "chiqué " as one or the other (mac) tool, but it works much better once you have got the hang of it. But as soon as you need it, it saves you. I’m hopeful we’ll see it soon in all the Office apps, both desktop and for the web.JoyousUtnapishtim's Experience I've been using MainType Professional for many years now, and I must admit that every now and then I was wondering if it is worth it, it's price - after all when everything works, you (or at least I) don't have to use it too often. If it is, this font will automatically download and display correctly on any device, even if the font isn’t installed.įor now, the Font Picker is available only in Word for the web. ![]() Perhaps the most important information you’ll learn is whether a font is a compatibility font. Figure C shows a short description of the Times New Roman font. These are fonts you’ll find in a SharePoint Asset Library.Īt the bottom of the family submenu, click About This Font to learn more about each font. If you work with SharePoint, you may see a fourth section, Organization Fonts. If you plan to distribute an electronic file, it’s a good idea to stick with Office fonts because you know they will render correctly on all devices. These are cloud fonts that are available on all devices supported by Office. The Office Fonts section contains a list of font styles supported by Office. You’ll want to limit the items in the Pinned section to those you use the most, so they are quickly accessible. To unpin it, click the pin icon it’s a toggle. In Figure B, you can see that I’ve pinned the Chiller font. Doing so will display that family or member to the Pinned section. To pin a family or member, click the Pin icon to the left. Pinned fonts include font families and individual family members. This list is dynamic so the items will change as you use fonts and open other documents. When you open a document, the Font Picker will list the fonts used in that document in this section. However, theme fonts are always at the top of this list. The Most Recently Used dropdown lists the 10 most recently used fonts in reverse chronological order. The font dropdown now has three sections, each accessible by a dropdown that you can expand and collapse: However, there’s a lot more going on in the dropdown. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how Word for the web has updated its font interface. It’s a small problem to have considering how many fonts Word offers, and one doesn’t want to sound ungrateful, but the new Font Picker does away with the problem altogether. Word supports dozens of fonts, but they’re difficult to access because they’re all in one dropdown, and the list is growing long! More is better, but the more fonts Word adds, the more difficult the font you want to use is to access. Upon hearing from Tarconi that Valentina is safe, Tomilenko tears up the Ecocorp contracts before heading for his business conference. Johnson breaks free, but is inevitably blown into pieces inside of the cab Frank reunites with and kisses Valentina in the rubble. He takes out all of Johnson's men but cannot attack Johnson because he is too far from his car.Īfter Johnson separates the train cabs, Frank jumps his car into the cab, and beats Johnson, strapping him with the bracelet and sending his car, which Johnson is restrained to, into reverse. After Tarconi and the Ukrainian police retrieve Frank and the Audi, Frank continues his chase and jumps the car on top of the train containing Johnson and his men. Aboard the train, Johnson lets Tomilenko talk to Valentina and gives him 15 minutes to sign the contract. Frank drives off the bridge into the lake, fooling Johnson into believing that he is dead, but survives by using the air from the car's tires to inflate a buoying device. Although Valentina is delivered to Johnson and her bracelet removed, Johnson's men shoot at Frank's car. Johnson redirects him to Odessa, where he and his men surround them on a bridge. Valentina, who is revealed to be Tomilenko's daughter, explains that she was drugged in Ibiza and was transported by Malcolm in order for Johnson to blackmail her father. She then seduces Frank by holding his car keys, resulting in them having sex. After opening the package in the trunk, Frank realizes Valentina is the real package. One of Johnson's men steals the Audi with Valentina inside, leaving Frank to chase him down by bicycle and retrieve them both.Īfter Frank and Johnson agree to call it even, Johnson sends him to Bucharest, but Frank and Valentina are chased by a black Mercedes-Benz E-Class driven by Tomilenko's agents. In Budapest, Johnson tells Frank that he's fired. While Tarconi researches into Johnson's motivations, Frank goes off-course, visiting a garage to try to deal with the bracelet, but as he fends off Johnson's men, his mechanic friend Otto cannot disarm the device on the car. Tomilenko negotiates to postpone signing Ecocorp's agreement that would allow the ship with the chemicals into his country. Johnson places an explosive bracelet on Frank, forcing him to take a package and the woman, Valentina, to Budapest. Frank is then knocked out by one of Johnson's henchmen. Frank rushes outside, but the ambulance, getting out of range, explodes and kills Malcolm. As paramedics take away Malcolm, Frank discovers a woman in the back seat of the Audi who warns him not to take her from the car – she shows him a metal bracelet she and Malcolm have been wearing which explodes if it gets too far from the vehicle. While Tarconi returns to headquarters to give Frank's alibi, in Odessa, Ukraine, the Environmental Agency Minister, Leonid Tomilenko, receives a threat from corrupt Ecocorp official Jonas Johnson to reopen business negotiations.Īt night, the Audi crashes into Frank's home, with a wounded transporter, Malcolm Melville, whom Frank had referred when he declined a previous job. Capturing such microbial metabolic trajectories in heterogeneous systems like soils remains challenging due to problems associated with destructive sampling and low time resolution.Īlthough the characterization of soil microbial metabolism has become much more convenient and effective due to the development of sequence-based and mass spectrometry approaches to interrogate biomolecular processes, most approaches require destructive sample retrieval and processing. This response is rapid with turnover of microbial biomass, community composition, gene expression and metabolism being highly dynamic over a period of a few hours to days (e.g., Placella et al., 2012 Placella and Firestone, 2013 Barnard et al., 2020 Blazewicz et al., 2020). This response to snowmelt infiltration is similar to the Birch Effect that has been observed as the respiration response of a dry soil to wet-up ( Birch, 1958). During this critical phase of the water year in snow dominated systems, nitrogen retention and release by microbial biomass is dynamic and associated with snowmelt dynamics ( Brooks et al., 1998). Our prior work observed that snowmelt induced a significant shift in soil water potential, dynamic biomass growth and turnover that corresponded to a reassembly of the soil microbiome ( Sorensen et al., 2020). Snowpack dynamics for example are strongly influenced by climate driving forces such as atmospheric warming and precipitation patterns, and in turn regulate both plant and microbial activity ( Brooks et al., 1998 Lipson et al., 2002 Steltzer et al., 2009 Wipf, 2010 Sorensen et al., 2019). Accurate characterization of the activity of soil microbiomes is key to understanding how the soil compartment functions and responds to chronic and acute perturbations ( Bardgett and van der Putten, 2014 Delgado-Baquerizo et al., 2019). Soil is a major compartment of the Earth system and its constituent organisms are central contributors to global biogeochemical cycles. Overall, it appears that such mVC time-series from PTR-TOF-MS combined with causal inference represents an attractive approach to non-destructively observe soil microbial metabolism and its response to environmental perturbation. Increases in ammonia oxidation signatures (transformation of hydroxylamine to nitrite) were observed in parallel, and while the relative role of nitrifiers or methylotrophs cannot be confirmed, the inferred connection to TMA oxidation suggests either a direct or indirect coupling between these processes. ![]() Unique and synergistic connections between intermediates of methylotrophic pathways such as dimethylamine, formaldehyde and methanol were observed upon wet-up and indicate that the initial pulse of TMA was likely transformed into these intermediates by methylotrophs. Simulated snowmelt resulted in a rapid increase in the production of trimethylamine (TMA) suggesting that anaerobic degradation of quaternary amine osmo/cryoprotectants, such as glycine betaine, may be important contributors to this resource pulse. The biological context for these mVC interactions was evaluated by projecting the connections onto the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) network of known metabolic pathways. ![]() Using an information theory approach based on the partitioning of mutual information, we identified mVC metabolite pairs with robust interactions, including those that were non-linear and with time lags. In this study, we used PTR-TOF-MS to investigate the metabolic trajectory of microbiomes from a subalpine forest soil, and their response to a simulated wet-up event akin to snowmelt. Microbial volatile compounds (mVCs) emitted from soil represent information-dense signatures and when assayed non-destructively using state-of-the-art instrumentation such as Proton Transfer Reaction-Time of Flight-Mass Spectrometry (PTR-TOF-MS) provide time resolved insights into the metabolism of active microbiomes. However, observing microbial metabolism and its dynamics non-destructively remains a major challenge for systems such as soil. With an increasing concern that climate change accelerates both snowmelt timing and rate, obtaining an accurate characterization of microbial response to snowmelt is important for understanding biogeochemical cycles intertwined with soil. Snowmelt dynamics are a significant determinant of microbial metabolism in soil and regulate global biogeochemical cycles of carbon and nutrients by creating seasonal variations in soil redox and nutrient pools. ![]() Buy ableton live 11 suite5/16/2023 ![]() ![]() Change the tempo and timing of any audio in real time without stopping the music thanks to Live’s warping. You can now track scales in the MIDI Live editor to see which notes "fit" a given key. The clip editing and CPU metering areas have also been improved. It's also worth noting that several existing live instruments have been improved and the core library has been updated and expanded. ![]() There are also new instruments - Upright Piano, Brass and String Quartets, all created in collaboration with the renowned Spitfire Audio. New sounds are also available in Live 11: the Voice Box offers vocal samples, instruments and effect racks, while the Mood Reel and Drone Lab are ready to provide a wide variety of interesting effects. Velocity Chance, on the other hand, lets you choose a range over which the volume of each note will randomly vary - ensuring that the dynamics of your music will sound very natural. Note chance, for example, lets you randomly create new variations of your patterns based on a selected probability, and vary them over time. However you want to humanize your music, new features based on "randomization" are available. Marco Snapshots then allows you to save the state of each macro for later recall, or, for example, configure the racks to contain 1-16 macro parameters with random selection. Most notable is LIVE Tempo: the feature is that Live 11 can "listen" to incoming audio and adjust its tempo accordingly, making it easy to jam and play with other artists. It's also used on stage, so Live 11 also adds a few features that are especially ideal for stage use. ![]() Of course, Ableton Live is not just a studio DAW. Also available is the new PitchLoop89, created in collaboration with Robert Henke and based on the well-known Publison DHM 89 digital effects processor. To develop a creative and experimental approach to music, there's also the Inspired by Nature collection - six instruments and effects, made in collaboration with Dillon Bastano, that use nature and physics as inspiration. The Spectral Time tool then allows you to take individual parts of a track and create a frequency delay, giving you a very interesting palette of reverbs and delays that can be transformed into extreme effects. In terms of instruments, Live 11 has been updated with a brand new Hybrid Reverb, which offers both convolution and algorithmic options, or a new type of Delay, the Spectral Resonator, for example, which works by breaking the sound into individual parts and then stretching, shifting and blurring the result by a frequency or note. The new Expression view allows you to edit the envelope, pitch and slide on a note-by-note basis, while the Wavetable, Sampler and Arpeggiator have been upgraded and equipped with MPE presets to give your sound a whole new range of possibilities. Live 11 also now provides support for MIDI Polyphonic Expression, giving you full control over each individual note. Related to this is the ability to edit multiple interconnected tracks simultaneously. The new "Comping" feature will provide the ability to work with multiple audio or MIDI tracks simultaneously, for example, recording to multiple tracks and then mixing the individual parts to achieve the perfect result. Ableton Live 11 comes with many improvements and new practical features. The software is available in Suite, Standard and Intro versions. And of course, Live can also do everything a standard DAW can do, so you can record and mix an entire album on it. Artists love it for its unique architecture - it's easy to create a beat and a full song and manipulate it live thanks to an advanced sequencer and a range of creative tools. Ableton Live is one of the most widely used production software, and you'll find it on almost every stage where there's also a computer. ![]() Mac pro paint born to beam5/16/2023 ![]() From time to time, items may take longer to pack, process or wrap. A company that honours individuality and self-expression above all else, it brought a brilliant sense of drag and theatre into the sleek MAC stores and department store counters. Adding to the image was a touch of outrageousness. Rather than driving sales through traditional promotional techniques, MAC relied on the integrity of its carefully formulated product line. Behind the counter, the MAC approach was notably different. The company took the industry by storm, offering a wide range of products that blended street savvy with glamorous style and panache. One of the most popular offerings was an intense matte red lipstick, which got a boost with an appearance in a photo-shoot of the fast-rising Madonna, later seen wearing a MAC T-shirt. Professional makeup artists manned the counter, an industry first. While other major makeup brands at the time were predominantly skincare companies, MAC chose instead to establish itself as the ultimate colour authority. Their approach was chic utility, with the makeup coming in black pots rather than compacts. As the magazine credits racked up and word-of-mouth popularity grew, the duo launched MAC in March 1984 from a counter in a Toronto department store. Soon, stylists and fashion editors got in on the action. At first, they made the cosmetics in their kitchen and sold them straight from the salon to fellow makeup artists, as well as models and photographers. Makeup artist and photographer Frank Toskan and salon owner Frank Angelo became frustrated by the lack of makeup that photographed well, so they decided to create their own.
